Reviews

What our patients say

“Dr Troy Schomaker & his team are the best! Highly recommend this locally owned business.”
BN Bruce Norton Verified review · Google
“Excellent team! Friendly, flexible and always ready to help. On the technical side of things they helped me solve a severe, on going pain in my back and leg with a decompression treatment. A mix of chiro back adjustments, decompression, and a timely follow-up maintenance routine. Thank you 👍”

“I cant really put into words how helpful Dr. Troy is and has been. By saying he is a great chiropractor and you should all go see him isnt quite enough. Me and my wife have been to a lot of chiropractors. Dr. Troy has been better than all of them combined. I sleep better. I see a light in my wife's eyes that I havent seen in a while. She has never felt better after seeing him just a few times. He knows his stuff. We are very thankful to have found him. From 2 farmers from Elk River, thank you”

New patient FAQs

What does the new patient special include?+

Your new patient special ($49) covers your initial consultation, a comprehensive exam, any X-rays we determine are needed, your report of findings, and — when clinically appropriate — your first adjustment. We review everything with you before any treatment begins.

What should I bring to my first visit?+

Bring your ID and insurance card (if you're using insurance), and wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Arrive a few minutes early to complete your intake paperwork — or fill it out ahead of time if we send it over.

How long is the first appointment?+

Plan for about 45–60 minutes so we have time for a complete consultation, exam, and — when appropriate — your first treatment the same day.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?+

For most people, no. Adjustments are gentle and many patients feel relief right away. You may hear a soft "pop" as pressure releases from a joint — that's normal and not painful. We tailor every technique to your comfort and explain what we're doing first.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?+

No. Michigan is a direct-access state, so you can book with us without a referral from your physician. If your specific insurance plan requires one, we'll help you sort it out.

Is chiropractic care safe?+

Yes. Chiropractic is a widely recognized, conservative, drug-free approach for many musculoskeletal conditions. After your exam we'll flag anything outside our scope and refer you to the right provider when that's the better path.

Do you take insurance?+

We accept many major plans and also offer affordable self-pay options. Send us your insurance details and we'll verify your benefits before your visit — no surprises.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?+

Yes — chiropractic care is typically an eligible HSA/FSA expense. We accept HSA/FSA cards along with all major credit cards and cash.

How many visits will I need?+

It depends on your condition, how long it's been going on, and your goals. After your exam we recommend a specific, time-bound care plan and explain the reasoning — there's no open-ended commitment.

Can children and pregnant patients be seen?+

Yes. We offer gentle care for kids and expecting moms, with techniques always adapted to be safe and comfortable for every stage.
